Braille: Gift of freedom

Documentary film concept

About this project

Louis Braille has invented a method that is widely used by people who are visually impaired to read and write. Blinded in an accident as a child, he created in a mature age a revolutionary form of communication that transcended blindness and transformed the lives of millions. He dreamed to gain the knowledge of unexplored worlds of books and share it with others. Due to his method blind people, not knowing the world and not being able to see the environment, could travel in their imagination to distant lands and comprehend the essence of things presented in scientific books. The French inventor was also a talented musician, and besides letters and numbers, he developed musical notation based on the same principles. The Braille system created in 19th century could bridge the critical gap in interaction between the sighted and the blind. After two centuries it has been adapted for languages worldwide, and it still remains an invaluable tool of learning and communication. By means of our CGI and VFX technology we tend to visualize the unique perception of those whose vision is impaired, for whom the world looks differently. By means of our CGI and VFX technologies, we tend to visualize the unique perception of those who are deprived of sight, for whom the world appears in a different way.
